What is Volta?
Volta is a self-serve XR creation platform that gives artists & creators the ability to design and broadcast experiential content that goes beyond the 2D screen and reaches into the metaverse. Volta integrates seamlessly into artist’s existing workflows, allows them to build new immersive worlds that were previously unimaginable, and can even let their fans have an impact on the environment, turning a broadcast into a living breathing place. What once required a state of the art production studio and a six-figure budget is now free.
What is Volta Create?
Volta Create is our XR world editing, creation and broadcasting software. We have been building Volta Live, which is our VR application that is on the Oculus Quest store. One of the next major features we will roll out is the ability to stream full 360, 6 degree-of-freedom experiential performances to Volta Live.
Who is Volta for?
Volta is for any artist, musician, DJ or any other kind of creator who wants to create mixed reality experiences.
Is it really free?
Yup, totally free! There are no hidden fees or gated content anywhere. We also do not charge any subscription fees and all premium features are free-to-use. The only caveat is we do plan at some point in the future to embed a Volta watermark within streams or recordings. Creators can then remove this watermark for a small monthly fee. However, this will only apply to new users and all existing users will never be charged for joining us early on our journey!
How do you make money?
We're lucky to be funded by some awesome VCs who are with us on our journey to help Artists make more money from their art. In the near future, you will be able to sell your worlds in a Volta asset marketplace, and Volta will take a small cut of the proceeds. We also plan to roll-out a huge feature called 'Audience-Interaction'. Fans will be able to type in keywords into streaming platforms Chat windows, which will in turn have effects on the world their viewing. We plan on charging for these interactions where Artists would take 80% of the revenue and we take our cut of proceeds. This is akin to micro-payments within the in-app Gaming world.
Can I put music right into Volta?
You sure can. You can even use your microphone and have the world react to your voice. Go to Settings > Audio to choose what audio source you want to bring use. You will probably need to use audio routing software to run audio in from another source. Unfortunately, neither Mac or Windows computers have a way to do it natively. So, you need to download 3rd party software. On Mac we recommend
Blackhole (2 channel). On Windows we recommend
Voicemeeter.
